About
Zoonosis Research Center (ZRC) of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences is a research organization encompassing a network of experts in the field of control of zoonotic diseases. ZRC has been formed to conduct comprehensive studies, such as evaluation of different types of diagnostic methods, host range, environment, and pathogenicity of infectious microorganisms. Therefore, the center prioritizes the forecasting, predictive, and controlling strategies for zoonosis. Established in 2017, ZRC is managed with the cooperation of experts in the fields of health and epidemiology, infectious diseases, parasitology, bacteriology, virology, immunology, veterinary, agriculture, and environment. In addition, the center conducts applied research on zoonotic diseases in other parts of Iran. Moreover, ZRC has prioritized some studies to recognize the natural host animals and ways of transmission of zoonotic diseases to create effective prevention, control and treatment strategies. Recognition of causing factors and host range of zoonotic diseases is on the agenda of the center as well. The research results will be collected as a database for the conservation and utilization of biological resources and will be used for production, diagnosis, control, prevention, and treatment. Meanwhile, curriculums, lectures, and courses will be provided to researchers, technicians and graduate students. Another mission of the center is training zoonosis control doctors and experts, who are responsible for the control of this type of diseases across the country. ZRC has been established to decreases zoonotic diseases in the country. In this regard, the center has aimed to improve the community health and quality of life by training and increase the public awareness and promoting the best control, prevention and treatment methods. In addition, the research results will be collected as a database for the conservation and utilization of biological resources and will be used for production, diagnosis, control, prevention, and treatment.
